February 2011 Lash Stylist of the Month

Elizabeth Williams

The ability to help others comes in many forms. Sometimes the assistance is financially beneficial, sometimes it’s physical and sometimes it’s emotional. Elizabeth Williams has offered them all to others as she has transitioned through various changes in her career, yet her goal has remained constant – to help others.

A native of South Carolina, Elizabeth began her career as a Legal Assistant. For 12 years she assisted others in dealing with their financial and legal troubles, often playing witness to their stress, frustrations and anger. Seeing the physical toll these legal difficulties took on her clients inspired Elizabeth to do more. With a desire to help people in a more direct way, she enrolled in massage training and became a licensed Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork specialist.

“I loved that I could help people FEEL better with massage - physically better. I loved the physical transformations,” Elizabeth says. Working in several Charleston medical offices and spas, she worked to help patients and clients achieve a level of relaxation and relieve their pain and stress. Still, she wanted to reach out to others on another level.

Elizabeth wanted to enter the beauty side of the health & beauty industry. Her reasoning: “Although it has been, and still is, my desire to help people feel better, I have learned from working at a beauty salon, how much women feel better just by looking better!  I wanted to be a part of helping women look better, thereby helping them to feel better at the same time.”

Not knowing exactly what type of beauty service she wanted to offer, Elizabeth researched the beauty industry online and happened upon the Xtreme Lashes website. “Xtreme was at the top for eyelash extensions. I didn’t know anything about the service so I used Xtreme to learn more,” she says. After doing her due diligence and checking out other lash options, Elizabeth made her way back to Xtreme and enrolled in a September 2008 training class. “What stood out for me was that you had to be licensed in a related field to even go through the training. I knew that the company wanted to make sure we were performing a service for the clients that met their needs and desires. I love that Xtreme’s standards are so stringent,” she explains.

Elizabeth received her Xtreme Lashes Directory approval in January of 2010 and says the majority of her business has come from having an online presence on the Directory and with a website. “I love to make my clients feel beautiful and they just love their lashes,” she tells us. “99% of my business is now in eyelash extensions.”

Elizabeth still offers massage services, though and is currently enrolled in esthetics training to add skin therapy and waxing to her menu for full-service pampering. “I desire to help women of all ages and sizes extend their beauty®, relax and rejuvenate.” With a full esthetics school schedule and a full client roster, Elizabeth plans to bring in 2 additional Xtreme Lashes Stylists to work for Carolina Eye Candy, her Summerville, SC studio, in the next few months and secure a building to expand her budding beauty business. “I’ve seen how far Xtreme Lashes can go and I believe I have it in myself to take it that far,” she says. (We believe you do too!)

Elizabeth has already been sought out by local media (like radio station Y107.5 and local news anchor Tessa Spencer) and national beauty bloggers (like Marquetta Breslin), all who found her through her Facebook account, for her eyelash extension expertise.

Her primary goal is still to help others and in keeping with that goal, she has a bit of advice for those new to applying eyelash extensions, “Stick with it. Don’t get frustrated or give up. The race is not given to the swift but to he or she that endures to the end.”

With glowing reviews like these, we expect Elizabeth Williams will not just endure but excel in this industry:

"…I had very skimpy eyelashes. I tried lash extensions and found you MUST go to someone who knows what they're doing. I found Elizabeth at Serenity Spa. [Now] my lashes look fabulous and very natural and I can't even tell they're there. I went to my eye doctor (sic) - not only did her assistant not know they were extensions, the eye doctor didn't know either! They said how beautiful my lashes were. I blurted out they're extensions and they said they could not tell they weren't mine. Thank you Elizabeth!"
- Susan J., Summerville, SC

"These are beautiful, and so natural! I can't feel them and I will have to get contacts to replace these glasses, so I can show them off!"
- Retha, Charleston, SC
